Elton Brown Waived by the Bulls

2

I missed this last week, but Elton Brown was waived by the Bulls who are entering the regular season carrying 13 players on their roster, the minimum allowed under the CBA. At this point as far as I can tell Brown has yet to sign anywhere else. I have no idea how is this guy not on an NBA roster, but it looks like he will either be hitting the D-League or the overseas circuit again.

Camby's general arrival in LA has been bad. We're still thinking that he's going to be a great veteran and glue guy, doing lots of little things, but he has gotten off to a very rocky start. One thing I didn't realize is that the Lakerworld would be extra critical of him because of the playoff thumpings of Denver. TJ Simers brought this up and Camby has already managed to get his negative attention, just to compound the early storyline of his disgruntled departure from Denver. All of this should work itself out fairly quickly, but the guy has to start playing some basketball, and then he needs to stay healthy.

But if you force your opponents to shoot 42 percent from the field, and cause 19 turnovers, you’ve done a good defensive job. Even if you give up 107 points. Know why? Because that 107 points is inflated by the fact that you, on offense, are sometimes using up a possession in seven seconds or less. So because of the sheer amount of times you shoot and give the other team the ball, the points are going to pile up. Even if it takes them three possessions to get two points (think about that level of efficiency), the points are going to pile up. And if you’re going to tell me that an ex-jock or cable TV talking head is prescient and knew it all along, well, you’re eventually going to tell me that Jerry Van Dyke has a car that channels his dead mother’s spirit.

For those seeking some wisdom in National OverViews, I suggest Ball Don't Lie, where Kelly Dwyer's wisdom is far more reasonable than all of ESPN and SI put together.

This is only fair

The Nuggets will be without Carmelo Anthony for the season opener and I was thinking how nice unfortunate it would be for Utah to lose their best player too. Well, now the Jazz will be without Deron Williams who will miss at least two weeks with a sprained ankle he suffered against the Bulls on Saturday. If the Nuggets are going to win a game in Utah this is their chance. The Nuggets have a couple of players who can provide at least a reasonable facsimile of what they are missing with Melo on the sidelines, but Utah does not have anyone who can fill Williams' shoes.

Nuggets start 08-09 on a high note

Didn't see the game so any clips would be much appreicated. What I really like is Big Al's 5-12 from the field; Nene must have played some nice man to man. Also encouraged by D. Jone's numbers (2-4FG, 7-7FT), he could be nice for us.
