The Denver Nuggets summer league roster is close to being finalized and is shaping up to be one of the most talented rosters heading to Vegas. If Bol Bol does not play, I’d except the team to add another center as well as another guard to compliment Brandon Goodwin, Jordan Davis, and Terence Davis.
Summer league begins in just a week and a half and despite the fact that these players are merely dark horse candidates to actually land on the final roster, I know many of us would like to learn more about their games. So, here is a brief, Torrey Craig inspired scouting report on each player:
Tyler Cook, Forward, Iowa
Height: 6’8.75”
Wingspan: 7’0.5”
Weight: 250
Age: 21.8
Strengths:
- Three-year starter.
- Tremendous athlete with explosiveness and speed.
- Has developed a somewhat reliable mid range jumper.
- Relentless energy and hustle.
- Defensive versatility to guard the paint and perimeter.
- Solid rebounder.
- Plays within the flow of the offense.
- Can bully smaller forwards and hold his own with bigger ones.
- Has a quick enough first step to drive by slower defenders.
Weaknesses:
- Could be described as a tweener in the modern NBA.
- Skill set of a C with the size of a PF.
- Puts his head down too often while driving.
- Doesn’t have 3 point range at the moment.
- Post game is not reliable.
- Fouls too much and can get lost on defense.
- Not much of a shot blocker.

- Four-year starter.
- Above average athlete.
- Can get creative finishing at the rim.
- Good handle and change of pace.
- Decent rebounder for his size.
- Confident the next shot will fall.
- Jumps passing lanes and has quick hands.
- Long wingspan for his height.
- Often carried the team offensively.
Weaknesses:
- Played in weak conference.
- Inconsistent jumper.
- Playmaking may not be strong enough to play pg, shooting may not be reliable enough to play sg.
- Average defender overall.

Strengths:
- Decent 3 point shooter.
- Outworks most opponents.
- Very good rebounder.
- Solid passing for a big man.
- Best at scoring on the break.
- Positioning and Hustle make him a decent defender.
- Some shot blocking ability.
Weaknesses:
- Redshirt senior that only started this past season.
- Average athlete.
- Cannot create his own shot.
- Passive and inconsistent on offense.
- Too prone to turnovers and fouls.
- Below average size for a PF.

- Great athlete with adequate size to defend guards.

- Coming off his best shooting season.
- Embraces physicality without getting into foul trouble.
Weaknesses:
- Solid, but not a great scorer from any level.
- Secondary playmaker at best.
- Needs to improve his handle and decision making with the ball.
- Too ball dominant for his skills.
