Surpassing Expectations and Next year

I am a life-long fan of the Nuggets, having seen my first game in 1978 with my Dad as we sat in the rafters of McNichols Arena and watched a game against the Supersonics. I met Dan Issel outside the arena before a Lakers game in the mid-80's; this time with seats right next to where the Lakers entered and left the floor. Got hand-shakes from Magic and Worthy that night as a teenager. I got to watch all the home games live during the 1-8 upset against the Sonics, and was there for Rodney Rogers barrage to win the game in the last 19 (?) seconds of the game.

I have been living overseas for the most of the past two decades and have had no opportunity to watch the games live during the Carmelo or Jokic eras, and haven't followed as closely as I did when I was younger, but I have been brought back in this year because I love the style and players on this team.

I feel great about what this team has accomplished this year and believe that they will be a real threat in the next few years. At this point, after games 3 and 4 of the second round, this team has surpassed all expectations I could have had for them for this season. If they go on to win the series against the Blazers, that is icing on the cake. If they lose, it will be another valuable lesson that will make them even more formidable in the future. If they go on to face the Warriors or Rockets in the next round, they may get blown out, they may hang tough, they might even win the series, although from the tone you can tell that I think that is unlikely. All I can say is that I wish I was there to watch these games.

I am really excited about next year, especially thinking about how the Nuggets might improve, but with zero draft picks, free-agency is the only way to add parts that might add to the mix. There are the obvious, top-tier free-agents that few people in the media think the Nuggets have any chance at: Durant and Leonard, but one could always dream. I think Leonard would be an incredible fit for the Nuggets, but that's unlikely.

I would like to know what others think about other possible free-agents and how they might fit with the Nuggets. I'm mainly thinking about forwards, especially the likes of Horford, Biyombo, Julius Randall, Tobias Harris, Harrison Barnes, and Mirotic. I think any one of those players could add something special to the current mix, especially if the decision is made not to resign Milsap.

I know I'm jumping the gun, but again, I'm really excited for the team's future. I'm all in. Go Nuggets.
