What is Tyler Lydon's purpose?

I think it's pretty clear that Tyler Lydon isn't in the plans for the Nuggets going forward. Why hasn't he been waived then? The Nuggets could use that roster spot to add a guy that could at least potentially give them something when one of the front court players is out. Since his value has now been brought to zero, why are the Nuggets holding onto him when they could at least be giving guys from the G League a 10 day contract? It just doesn't make sense to me, for example when Milsap goes down and the only decent interior defenders you have are both starting, why wouldn't you use the flexibility that waiving Lydon would give you, and take a flyer on a guy who might be able to help you win a game? I doubt that would happen, getting somebody from the G League who could really contribute, but is there a legit reason not to give it a shot? Or am I just nitpicking? Seems to me that as injured as the Nuggets have been you'd want to try to make the most of your roster spots not just letting a dude collect a million dollars for his owl tattoo and moral support while everyone else contributes. Between MPJ, JV, and IT missing most if not all season, the Nuggets seem to have screwed the pooch by filling the 12th roster spot this season with a pointless healthy scratch. I know, they're 37-17, but does that justify paying a guy to not contribute other than maybe as a good luck charm, while possibly more deserving guys toil away in the G League? Maybe Connelly has some kind of plan, but right now the Lydon thing looks kinda dumb, Just sayin' ................. End Rant.
