As of right now Denver is in a unique position where they can still land another Free Agent to add to the core without having to give out major assets. With a projected cap of 102 Million, Denver could have up to 32 million in cap room to spend on a Free Agent. With the market looking extremely tight and not many teams having cap space, Denver can perhaps once again swoop in and land another huge piece without trading any of their core players.
Now the 32 million still accounts for both Faried and Arthur on the books. They could potentially open up another 20 million in room if they can move off those two expiring deals. Giving Denver 52 million in cap room(More like 45 since Harris and Jokic have cap holds). Now obviously Denver needs to re-sign both Jokic and Harris, but since both are RFA. Denver can go over the cap to bring both of those guys back. The tax is projected at 123 million. So if Denver waits on the extension, they'll have some more roster flexibility. Even if they can't land a star like Paul George, there are still other options in such a deep free agency class and because the market will be even more dry than it was this summer. Denver is in a prime position to land big impact free agents.
