My almost lifelong fandom for the Rockets/Nuggets started with a basketball stand that my grandpa set up in our backyard for my older brother and me when I was 6. Ever since, I was a basketball junkie, both ABA and NBA. I went to my first Denver game that year. Ralph Simpson was our star. I'd listen to Rockets games on the radio and my brother and I would religiously watch the NBA game of the week on TV. I drew elaborate diagrams of the Lakers playing the Knicks in the NBA finals.

Going to the ABA finals in 1974 cemented the fandom. Irv Brown and Al Albert calling games on Channel 2 for however long they did that certainly helped. And 40 + years later, here I am posting on a fan blog.
