1st Half- Cheeky ass Marlowe, sneaks a Cum joke into the pregame "hair gel" conversation, re: "There's Something About Mary", as Hastings feigns disgust and saunters off frame. I fucking love it! Jokic may have just won his first opening tip of the year. Kemba, rightly sees Jameer as no obstacle early. Gallo with a Plumlee-esque reverse dunk. Too many unnecessarily risky passes early for Denver. Chandler out early with 2 fouls and a gauged eye, replaced by Darth. Jameer is ice cold tonight, which for him and his lackluster d, is simply not an option, when we have two capable options sitting on the bench at pg. Batum torching us as the Hornets take a 4 point lead at the 3 minute mark. Murray checks in for Jameer at this point, with Charlotte on a 15-2 run. Lamb is now cooking. Anybody got any mint jelly? Murray impacting the game on both ends, but their wings are killing us. Hornets lead after 1, 31-23. Chandler going out early forced us to go with an a-typical, all bench lineup, for longer than usual in the 1st. Murray is a +10 TPM in just under 5 minutes of play. Jameer is a -3TPM in just under 9, but again, the main difference is the Hornet's wings torching us since Chandler went out. Hornets finally have a player with 2 fouls, in Lamb at 8:30 mark. Zeller then nabs his 2nd in short order. Barton now has 2 as well. Chandler comes in for Gallo with Nuggets down 9 at 7 minute mark. Jameer replaces Murray at 5:30 mark, down 12. Starters all in at 4 minute mark. Neither team has missed a ft in the half, as the Hornets lead, 61-52. Notable 1st half TPM: Jameer:-6, Murray:+10, Jokic:+12. Tighten up the d on Kemba (aka don't play Jameer), Batum & Lamb (aka more Chandler, less Barton), and there is no reason Denver should not win this one.
2nd half- I just royally obliterated my Front-porch rocking chair whilst enjoying a halftime smoke. I believe it was Philistine prophets, The Fine Young Cannibals who said it best, when they bellowed, "Shapowwow." Batum simply can not miss. Literally! Charlotte with their biggest lead of 19, at 10 minute mark. Hastings is apparently selling wolf cookies?!?! Williams picks up his 3rd foul for Charlotte. Jokic is the only Nugget with any interest in rebounding. "Ooogly spacing", says Hastings. Barton is NOT the answer tonight. Ironically, Jameer is the man to force Batum into his first miss. Murray in for Jameer at 4 minute mark, down 15. Maybe Barton is the answer, as Denver is on a 7-0 run since his insertion. More likely it's a matter of Jameer checking out, and the defense, palpably tightening as a result. Jokic and Gallo both over 20 points. Jokic Jobs J.O.B. into fouling on a 3, and sinks 2-3. Lamb now has 3 and Zeller 4 fouls. Barton with 3 for Denver. 3rd closes with the Hornets in the lead 90-79. Hastings is attempting another analogy. something about flipping off grown men, and light switches. Williams with his 4th foul. Nuggets would be wise to, but are refusing to, involve Murray in the offense. As a result, he takes it coast to coast for 2. Nuggets still down 12 at 9 minute mark, again with the all bench unit for some reason. I don't believe the Hornets have played a single minute without at least one starter in tonight. Shapowwow! Chandler seems to have blown his wad on d. No offensive impact from him tonight. Nuggets cut it to 6 at 5 minute mark with a Barton 3, assisted by Murray, and a Murray steal/coast to coast drive. Nuggets on a 13-3 run, cutting it to 4. Jameer promptly allows a 3 to Kemba, stretching it to 7, but with Harris playing poorly, and Barton in for Chandler we have no other option (Mudiay). Star call for Kemba against Murray, and the lead is now 11. Hornets seem to have VERY good defensive rotation. Why can't we have nice things? Not looking like the Nuggets night, down 11 with 2 to play. Just not to be, and this one ends Hornets 112 - Nuggets 102.
Final Thoughts- END THE JANIGHTMERE! Also, maybe defend known shooters. Shapowwow!
