I don't know who of you is watching the Olympics... just kidding; every one of us die-hard Nugget fans is watching these games just to follow our very own player Nikola Jokic. I would like to redirect your attention from the basketball coverage to the coverage of another sport done by none other than a staple of our basketball team. That's right! Our very own announcer Chris Marlowe is now currently announcing on the biggest stage of the biggest sporting event in the world. He covers Beach Volleyball in the Rio Olympics and is providing great commentary and insight that only a champion can provide.

He has been covering the Women's Beach Volleyball in Rio and covering the 3 time Olympic Champion and 3 time world champion(that means 6x champion) Kerri Walsh Jennings. She is quite possibly the most known female athlete from America(aside from the Williams sisters) and she is going for the gold again with new partner April Ross. You might be saying to yourself, "Hey what qualifies this guy to be an announcer in a different sport than basketball?", and that is a very good question.

What if I told you that our very own Mr. Marlowe was a two sport collegiate athlete(basketball and volleyball) who excelled so much at one of them that he won multiple championships? Chris Marlowe led his team to a NCAA Championship in college volleyball in 1973 as their starting setter. He was even voted USA's volleyball's MVP in 1976 and 1978! Volleyball is his expertise. Chris Marlowe even won eight tournaments and a world championship in Beach Volleyball.

According to his wiki page

On the beach circuit, Marlowe won eight open tournaments, including two Manhattan Beach Opens and the 1977 World Championship. Marlowe's athletic career culminated as team captain of the 1984 gold medal-winning United States Olympic Volleyball team.

How many of us knew that he is a Collegiate Champion, a 2x National(American) MVP, an internation beach volleyball champion(!), and an Olympic Gold Medalist?
