RIP to an amazing Nuggets fan - Russ Ray

For those of us who have been going to Nuggets games for any amount of time, you have likely seen Vicki and Russ Ray. Vicki is the sign lady who sits next to the Nuggets tunnel.

Russ is her husband and wears a custom Nuggets Jersey "Vicki's Husband".

The Nuggets Twitter just announced that Russ passed away.

I have 2 memories to share about this couple.

When I was in high school, my friends and I started the Wolf Pack where we would cheer for Joe Wolf. The Nuggets were awful that year, but Vicki and Russ were not only at every game, but waited outside every game as well. They drove a Chevy Blazer with a personal plate bstith23 on it and LOVED Bryant (he also drove a Blazer which helped). One day, Bryant pulls out of the players lot in a brand new Ford Expedition. We turn to Vicki and Russ and ask if they are going to get a new car or a new favorite player. Vicki replied "We love Bryant, but we don't drive Ford's!"

Another was at the Broomfield minor league game. My buddy and I go the game (poorly attended which likely be why they aren't here any longer) and we spot Vickie and Russ. Back in our Wolf Pack days, Russ made us official Wolf Pack cards and I still had mine. We go up to say hi and he not only remembered us, but had his member card with him. This was like 10 years later. To add to it, Vicki was there listening to the Nuggets away game while watching the game.

The Ray's are amazingly loyal Nuggets fans and very genuine and kind people. Russ will be missed dearly...
