My dream Nuggets offseason plan

I've been a Nuggets fan for my entire life pretty much and loved seeing the team consistently in the playoffs throughout the George Karl era. I see a lot of fans on here wanting to trade for big name players to get the Nuggets back to the playoffs next season, but I don't see how that would help the Nuggets in the long run. I don't see any big name superstar staying in Denver past their contract unless the Nuggets get near the Finals. I think that the nuggets core of young players will pan out in a couple years, but people just need to give it time.

The Nuggets are in a desperate need of a superstar, but instead of mortgaging our future for a superstar now, I think the Nuggets should continue to build through the draft and small trades throughout the season. I think Connelly is the perfect GM for this team. He has drafted great and has done a great job with the rebuilding process. Him and his staff have been great at finding talent overseas like Jokic, Nurkic, and Lauvergne. In this upcoming draft I would love to see them use their second round picks on draft and stash players and maybe use their 19th on one too if it is not traded.

For the draft, I'd love for the Nuggets to try and trade up in the draft. I love Gallinari, but he is too injury prone and hasn't had a full season since being traded to the Nuggets. If there is a way that Connelly can package him along with the 7th to move up a couple spots to possibly 4th or 5th in the draft, that would be perfect. With the 4th or 5th pick I'd love them to take Jamal Murray. The Nuggets are in desperate need of shooting and he would instantly provide that. I'd also take him over Hield because of his upside and his age. He is 3 years younger than Hield which can be a game changer. With the 15th pick, I'd love the Nuggets to pick up Valentine. He could bring a lot of leadership to the team while also being paired with his former college teammate in Gary Harris. With the 19th pick, I'd like them to either get Ulis (only if they plan on moving on from Augustin) or maybe get Korkmaz to possibly keep him in Europe another year or two as a draft and stash. I'd rather have them get Korkmaz here but if he is gone, Ulis wouldn't be a bad option. I haven't really seen anything about who will be available in the second round at where we pick, but I would assume that Connelly will take draft and stash players.

As for Free Agency, I want the Nuggets to maintain Augustin and Arthur as they were both key players off the bench last season. As for Miller, I'd love to have him back on the team, but I don't see him re-signing and he would be taking a roster spot that could be used for a more productive vet. Other than Augustin and Arthur, I don't want the Nuggets to throw big money at big free agents because in my opinion it would take away from the rebuilding process and I'd like them to just keep somewhat of the same roster as last year.

That being said, the Depth Chart would look like this,

PG: Emmanuel Mudiay, DJ Augustin, Jameer Nelson

SG: Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, Axel Toupane

SF: Wilson Chandler, Will Barton, Denzel Valentine, JaKarr Sampson

PF: Nikola Jokic, Kenneth Faried, Darrell Arthur

C: Jusuf Nurkic, Joffrey Lauvergne

I have Gary Harris starting over Murray because I would want the Nuggets to ease Murray into the starting lineup as he progresses. However, I could see Malone using Murray some at the backup PG as he did play some PG at Kentucky. I also believe that Harris is a solid two way player and is a good starter in this league. Also I have Jokic listed as a Power Forward because in a recent interview of his he said he is working on his perimeter defense as he expects to play more at PF next season. This lineup would be the ideal lineup if Jokic can defend stretch fours, that way they can start the Jurkic combo, which I believe could be deadly. As for the SF position, I see Chandler and Barton both getting about 20-25 minutes a game, with Valentine getting 10-15 as he progresses into the league. I could also see the Nuggets using Valentine at SG as he would be kind of undersized for a SF, but I could see him fitting in to either position.

This is my dream offseason for the Nuggets. Let me know what you would change and please feel free to leave feedback.
