Myth - "The Nuggets have too much depth"

Frontcourt:

Question to Kenneth Farid, postgame, versus the Orlando Magic on 12/20/16: "What can you take from this win moving forward versus Dallas?"

"Keep the momentum going, you know. Don't change nothing. Pretty much, it's tough to say that. You know its every night, different game, different people."

This is the coaches fault. Faried is trying to say that the Denver Nuggets play too many players. The guys on the floor don't know their roles. "Don't change nothing. Different game, different people."

Earlier in the video he alluded to a pre-game conversation with Coach Michael Malone (clarifying his role.) Faried then put up 19 points and 10 rebounds in 23 minutes.

It was reported earlier in the season that Nikola Jokic asked to "not start at the 4." He has a minutes restriction, somewhere around 24 minutes/game. It seems that Faried wants to start. By any measure, both of these players are better than Darrell Arthur, who has actually been starting the past 3 games.

What's the big deal who starts? It is all about who finishes. Yet the 4th quarter lineups don't make sense either! Jusef Nurkic never plays in the 4th (yet he starts, implying he is one of our best five players.) Wilson Chandler almost always closes out close games at the power forward.

Backcourt:

Blame this on General Management. Letting DJ Augustin sign with Orlando, while we are chasing Dwayne Wade. Poor judgement. Trying to win in the media, not win on the basketball court.

Is Augustin a world-beater? No. But compared to Emmanuel Mudiay, geez.

Mudiay is another player who is inexplicably starting at the 1. Ball handling is atrocious. Shooting is poor. He has no hops! Mudiay drives to the lane alot but has no lift to get over shotblockers, and no touch at the rim, and no ability to make a hesitation dribble to create space, and no mid-range jumpshot/floater.

Mudiay gets outsmarted by veteran guards on the defensive end too. Did you see Daron Williams, of Dallas tonight? Game started out 10-2 with five layups.

Many games the Nuggets get outscored in the first quarter. Often playing from behind. Point guard (Mudiay) not setting the tempo. On this roadtrip Nuggets have been down 28 points or more at Utah, at Brooklyn and at Dallas.

Coach need to step in and say, you won't start until you focus on the fundamentals. Ball handling must be #1. Today Deron Williams picked his pocket in the 3rd quarter right at the halfcourt line. That's pathetic.

Even more troubling from Mudiay is this article, referencing signing in the D-League. "$75,000 to $1.2 million is a big difference. So that’s what I decided to do. That’s tough, but I probably would’ve gone overseas."

What the heck is the big deal of taking care of your struggling mom. Whoa, when you bring up another guy's mom, obviously that is personal. Yet Emmanuel Mudiay has 2 older brothers. If you make it into the NBA past one contract, you will sign for way over 1 million dollars. If you go to the D-League or to college you will improve your fundamentals - such as dribbling or vertical leaping.

I'm so glad you got your million dollars Emmanuel, I hope you save it up. Because there are statical arguments that you are amongst the worst players in the NBA.

Gary Harris is hurt. Will Barton is a sub. Jamal Murray is a rookie.

Front Office (Tim Connely):

-Lets go of our most veteran guards (Randy Foye and DJ Augustin)

-Signs 0 notable free agents from other teams

-Completes 0 trades that do not involve draft picks (no player for player deals)

-Roster is the 5th youngest average age in NBA (a mans leagues, not a boys leagues)

-No interesting players with tattoos (Jokic, Nurkic, Mudiay, the vegan Wilson Chandler - not mad at his diet but this is literally the most fascinating of the court story of any one of our players, pretty boring on google.) The fans remember when the Nuggets players were liable to do anything. Carmelo Anthony has shoe deal, Kenyon Martin getting in fights, JR Smith (tabloid and instagram famous), Chris "Birdman Anderson (do any current players even have a nickname?) Allen Iverson shooting too much, Chauncey Billups was from Denver......... none of our current players have a storyline except for Kenneth Farid with the dreadlocks but he is the one who is most on the trading block. That's why the fans don't go to the games. How do I follow Danilo Galinari on twitter if all his posts are in Italian?

-Poor Head Coaching selection history (Brian Shaw. Michael Malone, passes over Interim coach Melvin Hunt, interviews Mike Di'Antoni two seasons ago, not sure what happened with that but the Rockets are doing good)

-How come he is not fighting the ownership for better contracts. Identify the Harrison Barnes and Derrick Rose types. If you don't want to win, at least have interesting personnel.

Coaching (Michael Malone):

-Changes 4th quarter lineup based on who has "the hot hand"

- minutes distribution - I randomly looked at the Boston Celtics minutes per game stats - 5 players with 30 minute averages. the 6th player averages 21 mpg. Compare to the Nuggets: 3 players with 30MPG, 7 players with 20-30MPG.

-The players (who are even quoted earlier in my 'reporting') saying "Every night. Different game, different people."

-Assistant coaches pursued opportunities with other teams this offseason (Ed Pickney, Chris Flemming.) Things happen but that is a reflection of them looking for better situations.

Going Forward:

I would like to see Chauncey Billups brought in as GM. I want him to choose his coach, maybe Scottie Brooks or Melvin Hunt. Maybe bring in Rasheed Wallace or Kenyon Martin, a tough guy mentality.

Maybe even would like to see new announcers, that is how entrenched the problems with the squad are right now. Even the people who have nothing to do with the play on the court need to be under consideration. Marlowe talked about volleyball 4 times this past game versus Dallas. Some Military guy he was interviewing in the 4th quarter and you know, he couldn't mention the Nuggets players. WTH?

Have not seen Josh Kronke sitting courtside, a la Marc Cuban. Lost Masai Ujiri (Toronto Raptors was in the conference finals last season.) All I know is that Patrick Roy resigned after talking to the front office. He wanted to sign a big time free agent defenseman but could not get the go-ahead. Something going on with Kroenkes right now. Not focused on winning Avalanche, Nuggets and Rams all doing poorly. Apparently the Rapids are good after signing veteran Free Agent Goalie Tim Howard. Nuggets GM given contract extension. Rams Coach Jeff Fisher recently received an extension (but was then fired within two weeks of that announcement.)

This is not intended to be an article but the state of the Nuggets right now is boring. Low attendance at the games. 10th place in the Western Conference standings. If you think that is good enough we are in disagreement. Calling out everybody because the games are literally broadcast on TV. It's a big deal that the squad is doing terrible for 3 years consecutive.
