Remember Rookie Ty Lawson? Who played really fast! In order to get him on the court, Coach George Karl would play Ty at 2 Shooting guard. And Chauncey Billups as the Point Guard. And our 2 guard lineup was really tough for opponents to defend. One of those early years Denver even went to the WCF.
Ty Lawson is the player on our team who has the best stats. We should NOT dump him. He has made some errors during this off-season especially, but he is good for us. I am looking for a bounceback year from him, his teammates are better. (I mean, Javale McGee, what a joke! #GoodRiddance) (Gallinari had a prolonged injury)
This is an interview video of Emmanuel Mudiay http://search.draftexpress.com/profile/Emmanuel-Mudiay-6472/ Just google Mudiay and it is on draft express. Mudiay talks about making his teammates better as a point guard. Making sure his teammates love to play with him. It seems apparent that Mudiay will be a starter. His voice is really deep. Mudiay is very mature for 19. He two players Mudiay mentions in the interview are Lebron and Steph Curry. This guy is gunning for the #1 spot. Let us get behind him and cheer for him.
One advantage for Mudiay is he is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The SAME city as Dikembe Mutombo, Nuggets HOF. And who is our assistant coach? Patrick Mutombo. Nuggets are going to make this guy feel comfortable, he will be a fan favorite. Especially to all the people from Africa in Green Valley Ranch. Another star aligning? Consider Wilson Chandler who played in China then returned to the Nuggets - he will be there for camaraderie and mentorship.
Our backcourt is:
Ty Lawson
Emmanuel Mudiay
Jameer Nelson
Will Barton
Gary Harris
Randy Foye
Barton and Nelson can come off the bench - a la Corey Brewer and AC. The ownership and coaching staff have been quoted as saying we are studying the 2008 team to duplicate our success.
