Ty Lawson is a very talented point guard who racks up DUIs like they're parking tickets. On Tuesday, he tallied his second DUI offense of the calendar year after being pulled over in Los Angeles at 2:30 a.m. Lawson was also arrested for DUI in January after being spotted traveling 61 mph in a 35 mph zone. The man certainly seems to enjoy himself.
Ty Lawson's current team, the Denver Nuggets, are looking to move the seemingly troubled guard who averaged 15.2 points and 9.6 assists last season. In spite of Ty Lawson's history with the bottle, NBA teams are eager to make a deal with Denver and acquire his talents.
Sports Illustrated has reported that Detroit, Houston, and Los Angeles have all expressed serious interest in dealing for Lawson and the Kings randomly are still in the mix despite having recently signed Rajon Rondo.
The Kings' situation is hilarious and it seems pretty obvious that George Karl is pulling double duty as head coach (what he's hired to do) and general manager (what he's not hired to do). Every move the Kings make immediately smells of Karl because every move they make is an attempt to bring all Karl's boys from Denver to Sacramento. It has been reported that Karl would love to bring Lawson, Kenneth Faried and Wilson Chandler to Sacramento so he can have a whirl at coaching these guys again.
Lawson would actually be a good fit in Sacramento but I am positive that Rajon Rondo is not going to be happy splitting minutes. The tandem makes for a really strange dynamic. I can't imagine any scenario that makes the Kings successful with Lawson and Rondo on the floor at the same time. However, I guess Rondo can be the Kings' backup plan the next time Lawson has a little too much booze and earns himself a night or two in the pokey.
