Hey Stiffs,
I did this last year and it was a lot of fun. Staring at the number 7 pick (barring any pre-draft trading) I'm even more intrigued this year. This year's draft may not be quite as deep as the last but there seems to be elite-level talent stretching just far enough for the Nuggets to potentially nab a franchise type player.
Last year, DS Nation was high on Nik Stauskas and Zach LaVine, however, they were already off the board by the time Denver picked at #11. But the most popular pre-draft choice was Gary Harris, who of course the Nuggets landed along with Jusuf Nurkic in exchange for Doug McDermott in what may prove to go down as a brilliant move by TC.
Results of last year's Denver Stiff poll on who to draft:
G. Harris (26 votes)
Z. LaVine (25)
N. Stauskas (20)
D. McDermott (11)
J. Young (4)
A. Payne (4)
T. Ennis (3)
J. Nurkic (3)
D. Saric (3)
E. Payton (2)
For this year, I took Okafor, Russell, Town, Mudiay and Porzingis off the board. I haven't seen any of those names but Mudiay dropped below 5 on any mock draft I've seen. Mudiay was a tough one. I've recently seen him slated as low as 7 but ended up pulling him since the consensus is heavily toward him being gone. The names in the poll I've seen floated in the #4-10 pick range. If your guy is not on the list, choose "other" and list them in the comments.
Who would you like to see the Nuggets pick this year? Let's use a nice hypothetical and pretend they are all on the board for the choosing. And of course, we are assuming they just have a #7 pick. I'm not so sure they don't trade up, or acquire another high selection between now and next Thursday.
And so......
