Denver should aim to build this team through the draft much like Golden State and the Thunder have done. Big time free agents are not going to come here........... yet.
If we build a nice young team with a solid core we may be able to get top free agents to Denver in the next 2-3 years.
My plan:
-I propose we keep our number #7 pick and use that pick on Mario Hezonja or Justice Winslow or Willie Stein.
-Trade Ty to the Knicks, Kings, or any top 10 team that is willing to deal. Maybe we have to package Wilson with him or a future pick. If we get the Knicks pick we grab Emmanuel Mudiay. If we get the Kings pick we take Winslow or Mario or Willie.
-I would move Wilson or Faried plus a future protected pick to get the Kings or Pistons pick and draft Willie Stein or Stanley Johnson.
(-Trading to Utah for Trey Burke would be another option I would like to see if we can not get the Knicks pick and draft Mudiay.)
Basically I would like the nuggets to move on from some of our vets and draft 3 young promising players hoping that 1 becomes a super star and the other 2 become very good players or stars .
We would have a young nucleolus of
Nurkic, Harris,Gallo,Barton,
along with some combination of 3-4 of the following
Winslow/Mario/Willie/Stanley/Mudiay (or Burke)
Let these young guys develop together for the next 4-5 years.
Some of you will think there is no way we can get 2 more top 10 picks but many of these teams in the top 10 want good vets and have been drafting top 10 for years and want to stay away from rookies.
One thing the nuggets have are some very good vet players with decent contracts. We would have to take back some salary dumps for a year to make some of these deals work but then we would be able to free up a bunch of cap space going into 2017.
Thoughts...........?
