I'm curious what people think about how Lauvergne fits in on this team going forward. Granted, we have a very small sample size as far as his play is concerned, but that's not really what I am wondering about. Do we seen him more as a slighly undersized (mostly in terms of weight and width) center pairing with and backing up Nurkic going forward (hopefully enabling us to FINALLY stop using Hickson as a center), or do people see him as a taller stretch power forward backing up Faried? I personally think his more natural position is at PF, but with Faried and Arthur on the roster, I don't see him getting much playing time there. He's the same height as Nurkic, but far lighter (280 lbs vs 220 lbs roughly), so he might have some trouble with some of the bigger guys that play at center...but he also could be valuable as a stretch 5 (similar to current Los Angeles Clipper Spencer Hawes).
I fall more into the stretch 5 camp, based on our current roster. I loathe seeing Hickson play at center, so being able to get away from that would be awesome. Having a front court set of Faried/Nurkic with Arthur/Lauvergne backing them up would make the Nuggets a lot more dynamic being able to mix and match to take advantage of match ups. Not to mention getting Hickson off the court and away from the foul line.
Did I mention it would help keep Hickson off the floor?
