LWH and I thought it would be nice to have a group for those of us Nuggets fans who don't currently get to reside in that beautiful rocky mountain state we call Colorado, hence, OoSS was born!
I'd like to leave this space open for anyone who would like to share a bit about where they are at, your Nuggets interest, etc. Nothing too personal of course but anything you think would be interesting. I'll get it started, feel free to follow.
I have been a Nuggets fan for about 15 years, basically since the late 90's when I first moved to Colorado from the Chicago area. Grew up with all the Chicago teams (White Sox fan here though) and basically most of my memories are from the GK era and a lil bit with Van Axel and Raef that preceded it. As a kid growing up in Chicago I was incredibly lucky to get to watch Michael Jordan (Air Jordan! His Airness!) play at the United Center (The new Madhouse on Madison!) during the playoffs. I can still vividly remember him hitting a game winner, even though I was young and we were pretty far back in the stands.
Decided to go to school in San Francisco (USF, home of basketball great Bill Russell) so I could study Chinese and International Relations because I think China/Asia is a big deal for this century. Now I work out here in the wine industry in the Napa/Sonoma area; my fam has a small vineyard in Boulder. I've kept my interest in the Nuggets everywhere I've gone and DenverStiffs has been a great place to keep connected with the team from afar.
My SN comes from a German soccer (futbol) team called Borussia Dortmund. I picked them to follow a few years ago because they are close to a town my German ancestors came from in called Minden. Today and in the last few seasons they have been one of the best clubs in Europe, reaching the Champions League final this past season. Schwarzgelben means "Black-Yellows" and those are the team's jersey (or kit) colors.
The writing quality and interesting debates keep me interested in the site, but I do love the occasional erratic freak out whenever something isn't going right. Reminds me that we truly are some of the diehard fans, even if we're a little unpredictable.
