I have decided that I will no longer consider myself a Nuggets fan. The Karl firing was the last straw. I’ve realized that I have been watching the same Nuggets team for the last 30 years and that any time there is a successful deviation from that very average standard, (the Mutombo years and the post Iverson Western Conference Final year) the team always ends up making moves to get themselves right back to irrelevant. The Nuggets roster inevitably always consists of the same types of players…all from memory, so I may be leaving a few guys out... A point guard that can score but is too short to maintain long term NBA success and is usually exposed in the playoffs • Fat Lever • Michael Adams • Chris Jackson/Mahmaud Abdul-Rauf • Bobby Jackson • Nick Van Exel • Allen Iverson • Earl Boykins • Ty Lawson A shooting guard that can sometimes play some good defense but isn't a consistant shooter • T.R. Dunn • Bill Hanzlik • Bryant Stith • Reggie Williams • Greg Buckner • Dahntay Jones • Aaron Afflalo • Andre Iguodala A small forward that can score but has difficulty on the defensive end • David Thompson • Alex English • Kiki Vandeweghe • Marcus Liberty • Dale Ellis • James Posey • Raef LaFrentz • George McCloud • Carmelo Anthony • Danilo Gallinari A power forward that is athletic, powerful, can block shots and rebound but is out of his scoring range if he can’t touch the rim • Calvin Natt • Wayne Cooper • LaPhonso Ellis • Danny Fortson • Antionio McDyess • Nene • Kenyon Martin • Kenneth Faried And a center that is either not tall enough, not heavy enough, thinks he is an outside shooter, can't score with his back to the basket, or is one dimensional • Dan Issel • Danny Schayes • Dikembe Mutombo • Marcus Camby • Juwan Howard • Timofey Mozgov • JaVale McGee Of course there have been a few exceptions to this, Chauncey Billups being the most obvious. He led the team the farthest they've been in the post-season since the mid-80's. The Nuggets made sure he was moved and ended their most popular player relationship(twice)…to get back to the standard, irrelevant product. As of now I’m tired of watching the same type of team every year. You can bring Phil Jackson in here and he’ll fail with this team too. George Karl wasn't the problem, the problem was building the same type of team that has consistantly fell short the ABA/NBA merger. The Nuggets have never had a deadly outside shooter or a true center that can score with his back to the basket. I could watch next season but without a revamped roster I already know how it will go…
