Not all Stiffs were pleased when the Nuggets decided to amnesty Chris Andersen at season's end last year. But now that he has taken his tattoos to South Beach, we should be happy for him. The Bird has slipped into the Heat's rotation, ably filling what was perhaps the only chink in their armor: interior toughness.
His averages of 5 points, 4 rebounds and 1 block may not sound like much, but his PER of 17.44 indicates that he makes an important contribution. After putting up 10 pts and 7 rbs in yesterday's thumping of the Bucks (the Heat are 40-3 when he plays), Andersen received this review from a very authoritative source:
"He brings us a lot of energy and effort plays,'' Lebron James said. "He flies above the rim and we're so happy to have him.'' Go Bird! Unless we meet in the finals...
