Went to the Warriors - Thunder game last night with the likelihood of a Nuggets-Warriors first round match up in mind.

I should also add that earlier in the day I read a column by a Contra Costa Times writer saying "we want the Nuggets" in the first round because the Grizzlies and Clippers would be tough matchups due to their size and muscle.

Then I turned on local talk radio and heard Rick Bucher say about the same thing. For a national NBA guy I was disappointed in his lack of Nugget knowledge. Essentially he said Faried is the guy we really need to worry about. Which conversely could mean that Lawson, Iggy, Chandler, et. all, are not concerns. WTF? I would think Bucher would get the Nuggets by now and the impact of their team-first system.

Granted, I caught the Warriors play one of their worst games of the year, but here were my takeaways:

1. Even with the Thunder in town for a meaningful sold out game in April, that place was quiet. More people were checking their texts than watching the game. Advantage Can.

2. For such a high scoring team, I was struck by how slow and methodical they were. Never looked at the numbers but very few fastbreak points and very very rarely did they look for that half court outlet pass that the Nuggets are so good at.

3. When they went into David Lee, Bogut (before he got hurt), Landry, etc, they looked overmatched. Ibaka and Perkins were manhandling them.

4. I love Jack and Landry off the bench. Not as deep as the Nuggets, but at least last night they looked better with their second unit out there plus Curry (who seemed like he played the whole game).

Knowing the Nuggets, the thing that concerns me most about the Warriors is their shooting. If the Warriors can pass out of the traps and find open looks, there is no doubt that Curry, Thompson, Jack, Lee, etc could do some damage.

I like the Warriors and couldn't help rooting for them vs. the Thunder. Got to say though, it looks like a good match-up for the Nuggs.
