I tried to warn you at the time of the trade.

Javale just doesn't block out, can't set picks, thinks his postgame is way better than it actually is and lacks any basic understanding of where to be when on the court. His defensive awareness stinks and he's not physical enough to guard competent players one on one in the lowpost. He is crazy athletic and some of his plays WOW you beyond believe but ultimately the points he saves you with empathic blocks, he gives up in twofold by giving up wide open layups (usually fouling as well because hes too late) and giving up rebounding position inside like he just don't care.

The pundits called the Lakers series last year an eye opener and claimed McGee would develop now that he is with a competent franchise. They just weren't paying attention quite frankly. The Wizards franchise is far from competent, yes, but Javale had those kind of games for us too. Just not in a playoff series with national attention but in meaningless ones on a bottom dweller playing out a lost season.

Alot of you are calling the 'potential' card I presume, just like we did. It devided our posters unlike any other topic on Bullets for Ever (except maybe Blatche...) But when all is said and done, after 5 years in the NBA he hasn't developed all that much and still isn't more than an extremely athletic goofball with tons of potential, growing you gray hairs because he just doesn't seem to get it.

Meanwhile the trade hasn't been as good for us as we hoped either with Nene missing so many games and still getting up to speed as we speak (as yesterday showed). However, I viewed the trade as a win for the Wizards at the time and I still do. Nene is a great calming presence in the lockerroom, a great mentor for our young players and at times is right up there with the best bigs in the league.

I still have hope for Javale but I know 2 things for sure: 1 he will never reach his full potential (which is massive no doubt) because of who he is and 2 whatever his actual ceiling might be, it wasn't worth wasting John Wall's career waiting for it.
