Today is the first official day of NBA Free Agency. Put all your thoughts on what happens today here. Looks like Bulls backup center Omer Asik is highly coveted. I will let that sink in a bit. There are rumors of an $8 million per season contract offer from the Rockets. The Turkish center is also being heavily courted by the Portland Trail Blazers. This may greatly affect negotiations between JaVale McGee and the Denver Nuggets on a new contract.
Speaking of which. We still are not sure if the Nuggets extended a Qualifying Offer to McGee. We assume they have but there has been nothing official coming from the Nuggets. Nothing on if they have extended one to Rudy Fernandez either. I'm assuming the Nuggets do their due diligence, but it is a bit unusual to not announce qualifying offers.

Update: According to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com JaVale has indeed been tendered the QO. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports Masai Ujiri is flying out to LA to meet with JaVale's representatives. Stay tuned...
