We can sign the guy outright next summer with a very small amount of maneuvering. His desire to come to Denver is nonexistent, but that doesn't mean I can't dream.
First of all, the chances of signing Dwight depend on our cap space, so Harrington would be amnestyed in any scenario. Big Al is a great guy, but any GM would cut him to pick up Dwight. Moz could be traded to free up another 3 mil while actually getting value back. Bird and brewer would be the other nuggets traded to make room. If both are traded, and Harrington is amnestyd, even with our 1st rounder we would only have about 40 million in committed salary. My math may be wrong but I think we could keep one of the three. We could pick up Dwight and a backup Pg with that type of money. After we pick up Dwight and a Pg, we would be capped out. Improvement would be mostly internal. Trades, late draft picks and the MLE would be the only other way we could improve.
We would most likely be in the low tiers of the Luxury tax after a few years of raises, Ty's extension and MLE. Is that really a big deal with that team? I think not. Tell me that team isn't the best of the west. A front court of Nene, Dwight, faried, and koufus would make other teams shit their pants. Now obviously that team would be a championship contender, but would it be better than the "3D" plan in Dallas? Dwight/Deron/Dirk/Haywood/Scrubs is a STRONG lineup, but they may not be able to trade Marion, especially because other teams know Cuban's plan
Discuss.
P.S.: Dwight is not coming here. This is just for fun.
