Why I love MMA

So, truth be told, I was never really into the steroid induced, Affliction clothes wearing, tap out hat totting sport. I did score some free tix to the Jones-Rampage fight and thought it was highly intense and entertaining. However, that's not the main reason I'm all in on MMA.

MMA and MMA training has seemed to transform big AL from Hamburgler to Go to player. He has gone from amnesty shoe in to filling in the shoes of Mr. Big Shot. While my journalistic comparisons might not be exciting, Al Harrington's comeback from the lock out is and he is THE big reason why this team is 4-2.

He is lighter on his feet, tougher in the post, finishing at the rim. This is the Harrington I thought we were getting for the MLE. He chalks a lot of it up to his MMA training during the lock out. While some players (see Anderson, Chris) were, ummm, resting during their time off, Al clearly has put in the time and work to improve his game. Also, having kicked the Plantar Fascitis has to have helped.

Al isn't going to stay this hot. He will have his moments. But, once Gallo, AAA, and Rudy break out of their shooting funk, this is going to one tough team to knock out.

Oh yeah, for those MMA fans that might read this, Bones Jones is a freak of nature. That guy might not lose for awhile...
