The real issue in Denver win at Philly

As we enjoyed the tremendous win in Philly with Miller in the starring role, beating 2 straight teams who hadnt lost at home, moving to 10 - 5, gaining ground on OKC who lost to the Wizards, I was left with an uneasy feeling. Should have been a great night, no? No.

I'll cut right to the chase.

If Gallo is hurt, he should not be playing but, if he's not seriously impaired the following applies.

I am a huge fan of Gallo but that performance was correctly described by RBM as "spineless." I ranted there. I'll elaborate here.

What I saw was frankly what I saw for a short period of time after Knicks went south in early 2009 or 2010. Gallo seemed disinterested, maybe tired, possibly confused. Most of us thought he'd hit a wall of some kind.

But yesterdays "effort" bordered on catatonic. It was that bad. That performance made no sense.

Three shots. Three. Why did he bother to even take one?

Gallo did not play badly. Gallo did not play, period.

Ironically the player that I frankly dislike, that now plays Gallos old position in NY, put up a stinker and probably lost the game for the Knicks but at least he played, he tried. That's what "he do."

My question, what do Gallo do?

Maybe this is a one time thing. How could we know?

One thing for sure, Nugs cannot be in any rush to extend Gallo before 1/25 deadline. And any post season resigning has to be carefully calculated.

For now, any more "efforts" even resembling the one in Philly should result in Gallos losing his starting position and curtailed minutes, not for failing but for not trying.

If for no other reason, how could we justify playing a guy who shows that non effort when Harrington and Brewer have been nothing but balls of energy, at Gallos spot, usually playing productive if not heroic minutes for us?

Karl and Denver bigwigs need to have a serious sit down with Gallo. Just show him a tape of the 6er game. If Gallo doesnt get it, it might be time to cut the cord as soon as possible.
