JR Smith Immediate Substitutions (where George Karl always fails you)

Hey,

I love watching your new squad, but i want to ask how you all see Karl's current management of his teams most explosive scorer and asset.

I thought JR would surely flourish and be relied on as the premier scorer (and playmaker) that he is once Carmelo left.

But who was I kidding - George Karl is your coach.

With 5 minutes left in the 2nd half, JR made a minor defensive mistake on one end of the floor, responding by weaving through the whole Thunder D and setting up Nene for two foul shots with a pretty drop pass. He looked to the table, saw that Karl had already assigned the sub, and stormed to the bench, tossing the towel a player offered him, clearly frustrated with his life as a Nugget.

With 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, JR made a small defensive mistake again, responding with a magnificent 3 point play, and on the next possession, a gorgeous bounce pass to set up Nene for his 3 point play. So, responsible for the last 6 Nuggets points, bringing his team within 2, JR smith then proceeded to the bench, replaced by Kenyon Martin.

Then, down 3 with :20+ left, Karl comes out of a timeout neglecting to sub in JR.

Now, down 6 with 0:6 on the clock, JR gets the call!

It's honestly painful to watch. To not have your most explosive player on the floor in crunch time is just foolish. Especially when it's so obviously correlated to the guy's FIRST mistake. Plenty of the team makes horrendous plays, but only JR is held responsible with his minutes.

I wish you would have freed this kid to the Bulls so he could earn meaningful minutes on his way to a championship. Instead he sits while an arrogant Karl presides over Kenyon Martin's brilliant shot selection, and a two PG lineup against a 6'4" and 6'7" Thunder back court when it counts.

This kid's leash is so obviously subjectively short on this team, and at this point it's not only unfair, but really hurts your output.

Just venting. Thoughts?
