Worried About Karl's Statements to the Media

After reading GK’s interview with Chris Thomasson, I am worried about the fragile chemistry that any team with 5 new players (and the loss of its team captains) is going to have. In his interview, Karl rambled on about Gallo being the starter at SF, JR’s bad play, and publicly proclaimed Ty the “starter”. All of George’s comments may be honest, interesting, and revealing, but I think our coach needs take a step back from his usual free flow thought process with the media and give this team some time to gel. I am worried about Ray feeling slighted for not starting (the guy was a starter and had better stats than Ty). I am worried about WC’s attitude with all of the attention going to Gallo being the starter at SF because he “plays the right way”. I am worried about JR imploding without Billups and Melo around to mediate his relationship with Karl. After coming off perhaps his best and most important contribution of the season against Memphis, Karl should have praised JR for helping the Nuggets snag a big win with his effort, energy and production. Instead, Karl made public attention of a couple of bad shots by JR against Memphis.

Please George, get to know your new guys and your new team, before playing talking head with the media. Your honest ramblings to the press is a formula for losing your new team mentally and assuring the Nuggs of missing the playoffs. I would prefer GK tell the press he is still evaluating his team's lineup and minutes and its not clear who will ultimately replace Melo and Billups in the starting lineup. Preach that those starting positions will have to be earned. And, if JR is not going to be traded today, how about laying off him in the media, particularly with his big brothers CB and Melo no longer around to keep his head on straight. I know you and JR have a long history, but you are his coach, and waxing philosophical to the media about how challenging JR is does not do you, JR or your team any favors.
