Hey guys, I was just thinking about the last few years of the Nuggets drafts and had a few thoughts.

1998- #3Raef Lafrentz- over-Dirk Nowitzki, Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison

1999- #18 James Posey- I think this was actually a solid pick at that posistion

2000- #29 Mamadou N'diaye -over- Michael Redd, Eddie House

2001- #no first round pick

2002- #5 Nikoloz Skita (sorry)- over- Amare Stoudemire, Caron Butler, Tayshaun Prince,Carlos Boozer

2003- #3 Carmelo Anthony - over- Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh

2004- #20 Jameer Nelson- GREAT PICK- Traded to Orlando

2005- #'s 20 Julius Hodge, #22 Jarret Jack Traded for Linas Kleiza- over- David Lee, Monta Ellis, Andray Blatche

2006- # no first round pick

2007- # no first round pick

2008- # no first round pick

2009- # Traded for #18 Ty Lawson

2010- # no first round pick

My conclusion is this does it seem like us stiffs could do a better job of drafting talent then the past front offices of the Denver Nuggets. I know it's hard to judge talent before they develop I get that but it seems as though some of this missed draft picks were bound to fail before they started. I just feel like this organizations infatuation with signing high profile free agents ala Kenyon Martin, Al Harrington, and trading for Allen Iverson has dug them a huge hole. If you take a look at many of the contenders in this league they have stars on their team that were drafted by that team. Spurs, Lakers (kobe, bynum, fisher), Oklahoma City, Chicago, Portland, Hornets, all of these teams are built primarily through the draft with the exception of the Lakers. It's just hard for me to invision what the next ten years will look like I hope the results are better and I hope this organization builds through the draft. By drafting CHARACTER guys who care about the name on the front of the jersey not the back. I know this is difficult in this day in age but hell lets give it a try. As I appreciate everything Carmelo has done for this city, organization, and our hardcore fans I believe it's time to move on and begin the next chapter in this Nuggets book. I for one am prepared for some bad years until we are able to build this thing up the right way. It's going to take a few years for this team to be a perrenial playoff team again but fellow stiffs I believe the Grass Is going to be Greener on the other side, our fans and our city are too good of sports fans to let this thing die.
