The new NBA, post new CBA

So, I'm really a nobody in this NBA world. I have no sources, no contacts, nothing. But I have an opinion and the internet. So that makes me almost as qualified as Chris Sheridan...

As I was discussing this trade crap with a buddy, I had a thought, "self, would it really be so bad?" I didn't miss a home game the year the Nuggets won...11 games...total. I was the founder of the Wolfpack and, man, we had a blast cheering for Joseph Q. Wolf! I remember watching Junior Harrington from courtside. Times were tough, but it was kinda fun.

Our new team, if the deal goes through, won't be Bzdelik bad. What will be though, is the envy of many teams around the league. Let's say the new max contract is $12 mil per year. We will be in position, after the lockout ends, to have many 1st round picks, young talent (Lawson, Favors, AAA, Forbes), and flexibility under the cap. Dwight Howard becomes a free agent. The Nuggets could be in a position to grab someone like that for 5 years, 60 million. Meanwhile, the Heat, Knicks, Nets, etc are all strapped with expensive talent that they are paying $15-20 mil a year for (for which they are paying....proper grammar) and paying a huge amount in luxury taxes.

As a Nuggets fan, I wouldn't mind a year of scrappy, high energy basketball where we win 35-40 games. Sure I'd be frustrated some games, but I would love to look at the new NBA landscape and see a bright future for the Nugs. I might even pony up for some season tickets. The year we won 17 games, Bzdelik should of been coach of the year and I thoroughly enjoyed watching every game. Teams that play hard are great to watch.

So, Melo, thanks for helping the Nuggets to a bright future...with or without you.
