BattleCry for the Nuggz to get some NUTS!

I am staunchly opposed to this "rebuilding" nonsense. Our team is talented and for the most part, well-coached. There is no need to "blow-up" the roster after Melo leaves. I say the Nuggz should do a preemptive strike and trade Melo as a one year-rental, for another one-year rental such as T. Prince. Our team needs to stop running this ridiculous iso-offense and start to focus on defense and rebounding. Our team is plenty talented enough to score, especially if we actually ran an offense instead of just passing the ball to Melo or having Chauncey and JR chuck threes.

Randolph and Gallo? No thank you. I just don't see these guys as significant contributors to our team in the future. If Randolph truly does have attitude problems, then that is last thing this team needs. Although its appealing to think of the Nuggz getting another sharp shooter in Gallo, do any of you honestly believe another chucker will help the Nuggets accomplish anything?

Brook Lopez is not all that. Sure, he is tall and averaged decent numbers last year, but he lead his team to an impressive 12 wins last season. Nene, Kmart, or maybe even Birdman would have posted similar numbers had they played on a dump 12-win team last year like Brook did. Not a very impressive prospect in my humble opinion.

Who cares that Nene plays center. Back when we had Camby at center with Nene/Martin at power forward, we still didn't make it out of the first round. Let Nene be our center. If he continues to be soft, that is the coaches fault. Nene is a beast when he wants to be. He needs motivation from Karl and Billups. Same thing with JR. What this team lacks most is defense and mental toughness. If we trade Melo, we must improve these two areas.

I can understand why so many people on this blog love Ty and Aaron so much, but they are not going to single-handedly carry this team. If we blow up our roster and entrust the future to these two you'd better believe that they won't stay for long with the Nuggets racking up several 10-12 win seasons. Ty and Aaron, as of right now are roll players. Ty MIGHT develop into a starting NBA point guard, but lets not kid ourselves. He is no where near the level of Billups even though Chauncey has aged quite a bit.

My whole point is this: don't trade Melo to NY. If we do trade him we must receive players that can play defense and are mentally tough. If the Nuggets plan on earning a profit this season, then rebuilding is out of the question. I agree that we need to hold on to our draft picks and try to acquire more if possible, but we cannot expect to land another Melo in the draft anytime soon. It would be much wiser to keep the team competitive.
