If Melo only wants to go to New York..

Then doesn't it make much more sense to just ride the season out and let him go at the end?  That way Melo would not get the money he wants when the NBA reconstructs contracting agreements?    Not to mention it gives us a good sum of money to use when Kenyon Martins contract is up, that is enough to lure some nice free agents in 2012, listen folks we still have a team built for winning, Nene is an above average PF/C, Billups is a proven star, there are pieces here for a 50+ win team, if we did this we would have enough money to go out and get some talent to plug in our already proven system.  We can get Mayo in 2012, who is only 2 years in and already better and more consistent than J.R Smith, we can offer Marc Gasol a nice contract because we will have plenty more to offer than Memphis would since their owner does not really give a crap how his team performs.

We have pieces to still be good, Melo is a big piece but he is not a have-or-break piece of the chess board, we will be in the position we were before we got K-mart on the Nuggets and have some money to throw at any free agent next year.

Lets face it, New York has been doing some very, very awful moves for the past 6 years and they have hardly nothing to offer us, if they had David Lee, then it COULD work (though it would be in favor of New York but Lee would have helped a lot for us) but that is history and trading to New York would be worse than riding Melo out for a year and letting his contract sizzle.

I just don't get why Melo wouldn't want to go to N.J, I thought the owner wanted to go to Brooklyn?  That gives D-Lister LALA some hope doesn't it?
