This Needs to stop......

The Nuggets ergg Melo situation needs to be over. By over, I mean the media needs to stop false reporting and blowing smoke up my ass with unnamed sources and unrealistic trades. The media needs to stop reporting on an issue that is really a non critical situation at the moment. Melo hasn't said anything, and the Nuggets haven't done anything.

There have been a few articles alluding to this fact on this site and the Denver post that are good (Woody Paige). The current state of the NBA media after the Lebron episode has completely changed the whole nature of the NBA. Or has it? Nothing has happened and the Nuggets have said they want to keep Melo, which means that he isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Melo has said that he is with the Nuggets and is taking his time making a decision. Could that sound a little like Lebron a year ago?? Either way, we have him for THIS year.
We have 23 million dollars in expiring contracts and will have a good chance of being able to stay in the hunt with Utah and OKC while we wait for K-Mart to either come back or be traded along with Smith. I'm not gonna give you a list of BS unrealistic trade ideas. Some peoples ideas of possible trades are ridiculous. If the NBA functions like it usually does, the Nuggets won't have a chance to trade their assets until mid way through the season. You never know which players will want to get out of their situation's, or which teams get injuries and go into rebuilding mode before the impending lockout. Some may remember the effects the lockout had on the Avalanche. They were improperly positioned for the lockout and impending change. It looks like the players are not gonna win this one. Were in a recession and the players have enjoyed some of the best contracts in all of sports for years. Joe Johnson just got 120 Million Guaranteed!!! That is a F-ing joke!

I have a feeling that after this season people like Eddy Curry and Kenyon Martin will not be allowed to cripple a team for years. Max contracts are gonna be lower and I think that the owners may put in some Lebron rules that will keep the top players on a team from leaving. If the NBA wants to make all of its owners happy it will lower the share of revenues the players receive and employ better early termination rules for contracts in the NBA. If we could have gotten ride of K-mart and only been forced to pay a portion of the contract we would have taken it in a second. The next year will be interesting in terms of how teams position themselves with the impending lockout. Depending on how serious the lockout could be we may see a fire sale of good players with years left on their deals, as these old contracts will almost certainly be grandfathered into the next CBA. I guess were gonna have to wait and see, but I'm excited.

Regardless of all these possibilities nothing is going to happen at the moment. People in the media have flooded us with useless reports because they have nothing better to do or better yet, they have an agenda. It's made reading recent Nuggets articles become highly annoying. Every time an article starts with "sources close to the situation say" I just tune out. With Lebron and Bosh earlier in the summer there was actually some substance behind the claims, but now its just smoke. What's funny is that all of these guys in the media saying this crap have been caught with BS info in the past (i.e. Kobe / Bucher). I'm glad that football is back and the Rockies are winning cause this shit is annoying. I just can't wait for the season to start. Go Nuggets
