Simply put. Denver gets a 30yr old scoring guard in Crawford to replace JR, Josh Smith slides into the 3/4 slot to take Melo's place.
I didn't like this trade at first blush because Denver gets older without really addressing their weakness of the past 7 seasons (having a reliable frontcourt) and doesn't get picks back. Crawford at 18ppg would be a nice bench punch to replace JR's horrible inconsistency.
If Atlanta threw in a protected first rounder/second rounder I'd probably pull the trigger. Imagine Lawson-Josh Smith alley oops...also helps that Josh is a very defensively oriented player.
