The corporate media conglomerate that owns the Denver Post and Boulder Daily Camera (hereinafter "the Man"), along with the owner of the Colorado Springs paper, sent a cease and desist letter to Coloradopols.com for blockquoting any segment of any story from these periodicals or any other owned by them.
As this site, Mile High Report and Purple Row (and probably the Avalanche site) link to the Denver Post all the time, and because SBNation has analysis on our sports teams that is as good, if not better, than Paige, Kizla et al., is it just a matter of time before the C & D from the Man is sent. The C&D letter bizarrely states that links from Coloradopols.com explicitly attributing the Post after a blockquote only generated no more than 5 hits per day to the Post from the links (FYI: ColoradoPols states they had over 600,000 page views in April). Speaking for me, I often hit the link to the Post on the SB blogs to read the full story probably more than 5 times per day after a game or big story just on my own. Does anyone else here click the links to the Denver Post in the SBNation blogs? I also often hit links to the original source when I peruse the national or local political blogs too.
As the ColoradoPols post linked to above states, the Man can either embrace the internet and figure out how to co-exist with blogs and bloggers, or it can go the way of our beloved Rocky Mountain News within 5 years.
