The Denver Nuggets have over the past two summers shown no real desire to improve the obvious weakness on this team (BIG MEN). Why? All we've heard coming from the F.O. is that "we tried really hard, but....." Or, "we offered this guy a contract, but......" As a die hard Nuggets fan I'm over it!!!!!

It's no secret that the Nuggets only needed a piece or two after our amazing run to the conference finals two years ago. It's also no secret that Stan has been in cost cutting mode for the past three years. So who's to blame in all of this? If Stan hasn't been willing to spend the green to get the right player then we as nuggets fans are in for a lot of disappointment and heart break. If Stan has been willing to spend money on the right player then it's our front office that has failed us. In any job that I've ever had, telling my boss repeatedly that I tried, but I just couldn't get my work done doesn't end well. I'm so tired of these lame excuses coming from our front office. Where's the accountability? This is probably a good reason why both Wark and Chap don't have new contracts at this point. I really wish we had a more outspoken owner like Mark Cuban (I can't believe I just said that) because then we would really know where this organization is heading.

I see people bashing Melo for not signing this extension right away, but do you blame him. He is watching as all the first and now second tier free agents have come and vanished to other teams. The future in Denver doesn't look bright. All of the potential players that could fit in with the Nuggets style are long gone. We can't get anyone to seriously consider us. We've always had a problem attracting free agents, but this is getting a little ridiculous.

Two of the three big men on this team are not going to start the season, and I doubt either will be a 100% by December. That and Frenchie just left for New Jersey. So what the F are we going to do? If I was Melo, I would sit down and ask them why the hell I should sign this extension? We have no big men and you have shown no real desire to improve this team. I get the feeling that this entire season will revolve around waiting for some team to trade for Kenyon's expiring contract. The problem is, who will be available? The best case scenario Al Jefferson was just taken by the Jazz for nothing more than a couple of draft picks. Chris Paul could be available, but then the entire chemistry of this team would change. All we needed for the past 2 F-ing years was a true center and we haven't been able to get a sniff. It's pathetic!!!!!!! If Melo waits to be a free agent he can guarantee that he will be on a team that will spare at no expense to get his ass a ring. Can he say that in Denver right now??????? Unfortunately the answer to that question is NO!!!!!!!! Melo's friends have already shown us that it isn't all about the money. This scares me.

At this point you may be thinking, wait a second, we won 53 games last year and if it weren't for Karl's cancer we would have been right there battling the Lakers for a trip to the finals. Really??? Even before the tragic events surrounding George Karl, the Nuggets just weren't the same team as they were when they played in the WCF. Last year, the Nuggets routinely lost to inferior teams and gave lack luster effort on a regular basis. We were not going to challenge the Lakers. Hell, I don't think we could have beaten the Suns or Spurs if we faced them. All three of our Bigs saw 2-3 minute increases per game last year, and surprisingly two of the three players had major injuries by the end of the season. This was sooooo stupid on the part of George Karl, but without the proper personnel he felt he had little choice. I think he should have played Frenchie and Balkman more, but he couldn't trust them on the floor. It's no secret that he wanted another big. He said it repeatedly in the media, but it fell on deaf ears I feel.

So, I ask the question, is it time to push the panic button. For me, I would say you should have your finger over the button. If things continue the way they have been going, the awesome run of 2008-2009 will be all but a one year wonder. Even if we are able to keep Melo, with no improvements to our front line, we will return to our previous habit of getting blown out in the first round of the playoffs. So I guess time will tell if we are actually gonna get serious and start adding some bigs to this team, or if we are gonna fold and be a forgotten team in the western conference.
