Okay, I am admittingly stealling this idea from our friends at sactownroyalty . But I liked the idea and I'm gonna roll with it.

The draft is quickly approaching and after debating the ways for the Nuggets to get into the draft in the first place, we can debate the upside and downside of Hassan Whiteside, Daniel Orton, Jordan Crawford, etc. Somewhere between the NCAA tournament, draftexpress measurements , YouTube and Denverstiffs numerous wishlists, we all fall in love with a particular prospect. We draw a line in the sand and from then on, he will not only be the guy we want to hear called on draft night, but when he isn't, we will still scour the fish wrap for his box scores just to prove that we were right.

Last year, Andrew set out his rules for drafting in the late 1st round and beyond and even threw out a few names . In June 2008, I was really high on Marresse Speights after reading Andrew's draft previews . Basically, we all develop favorites as the draft process progresses, this year is no different. So this is an exercise where, right or wrong, you make the case for your guy- regardless of position on the court or in the draft rankings.

I will begin.

For no real reason, I'm high on Quincy Pondexter. It's irrational I know. The Nuggets have no need for a rookie SF, but there's something about his game that I like. He can defend multiple positions on the frontline and perimeter. He rebounds well for a SF and has a decent outside shot. Since moving to Seattle, I have followed him during his recruitment to UW. He's taken awhile to mature and as a senior I'm not sure he's even there yet. He reminds of Mickael Pietrus. That said I think the Nuggets need more size up front at the PF or C positions with a player that can score, pass with his back to the basket and rebound. Pondexter doesn't really fit that mold, but I'll probably follow him no matter what team he goes to. Whoever the Nuggets pick in the draft (assuming they trade for a pick) he has to have some personality. This is after all the Nuggets where tattoos and headbands rule!
