Develop a System?

Amidst all the fanpost/fanshots about off-season trades following our dissapointing first round exit, I ask the question... is it the players or the system (or lack there of)??

think about it, even Dantley and Karl said we play random basketball, that is not a system... it could be part of a system, but not the main basis of one...

to me some examples of a system are:

run and gun (ala the Suns or the Knicks)

slow down the shot clock, gritty defense (Spurs, Celtics, Cavs, Blazers)

pick and roll based system (Jazz and Hornets)

triangle offense (LA Lakers and T'Wolves are trying to)

Now I know our offense consists primarily of isolation and fast break, but we have so much talent that we are making it harder on our selves to score... think about it, if JR Smith would memorize Ray Allen's playbook then he would get open threes all day... We need off and on ball screans, people taking charges, cuts to and away from the basket, box out assignments, and some other fundamentals... but it all starts with a system

as much as I hate floppers (CP3, D-Will, Nash, Varajao, Manu), its awesome when they are on your team, so I think JR, Ty and Melo should all learn to act a little bit... cuz i know it frustrates our team and our fans when it happens to us... so why not do it to them

So what I'm saying is that we need to have a strict philosophy for our team... Now I'm not saying it has to be slow down grind it out Defense or Seven seconds or less.... But there is a happy medium... like how we played last year during the playoffs... Run the team out of the building and lock down defense

am I asking for to much?

so Yeah if a good offer for a trade comes up, except it... but don't do anything hasty and panic just cuz we lost this year....
