Championship to Denver

Its becoming obvious that some things have to happen, and fast if this Nuggets team are going to win the title in the next couple of years.

What we need: A talented big that can pull down big rebounds

:Better team chemistry / smarter consistent players

:A reliable scoring option behind Melo

:DEFENSE!

Apart from that most of the team core is still good but here is how we get that extra step further

Step 1:Resign Melo for as long as he wants and however much he wants. We need him more than anything to win a championship. He knows this team its his and he has been with it through each step of improving. Cant let him go now when we are so close. Also Resign Graham and Petro.

Step 2: Make this Trade (or something Similar)

DEN sends - Kenyon Martin Exp. contract, JR Smith Exp. contract, Maybe 2011 1st or cash, Linas Kleiza

NOH sends - Emeka Okafor, David west, #11 pick

MIN sends - Al Jefferson, Ryan hollins #4 pick

DEN recieves - David West, AL Jefferson,

NOH recieves - Kenyon Martin, #4( Demarcus Cousins) Ryan Hollins

MIN recieves - Emeka Okafor, JR smith #11(Xavier Henry/similar), Linas Kleiza rights,

Why they do it - Denver is the most likely team of these three that can contend for a title now. They need Jefferson as he is young big strong and capable of getting 10 rebounds a night and scoring plenty too. He would be a threat down low if melo is getting double teamed or if he gets teamed Big AL can pass it out to an open Melo or AAA or Billups. And hes not a bad defender. West gives Denver another proven star who can consistantly score and pull down 8 rebounds aswell as defending opposing scoring Pfs. Allows Chauncey to score less and get assists. Denver now has plenty of scoring/ rebounding options and younger consistent overall more talented stars.

New Orleans will get a talented young core in CP3 and Cousins aswell as temporary talent/ force in Kenyon Martin whos contract will expire with pejas and mo petes etc. giving them crazy cap room for 2012. free agents will want to come to NOH and pair with cp3 and cousins. Makes them strong contenders for the future but this year will be about developing the team. They also get rid of Okafors contract.

Minnesota already has a log jam in the frontcourt so they dont really need cousins and the top ten draft prospects are all big men expet the top two so they they might be more open to trading the pick as you would think . They get Okafor for Jefferson which would give them someone who can play alongside Love better scoring big etc.. They can then use the #11 pick on a wingman like Henry and pair him with rubio for a deadly duo. The T-wolves are also one of few teams that could actually use JR. I mean they cant really get any worse and they need wingmen. JR could score up to 20ppg average there but if he doesnt work out his contract expires anyway

Some things may need to change slightly to make the other teams accept (more picks involved, cash, change ryan hollins buyouts) but overall I think this kind of trade suits all teams involved.

Step 3: Hire a good defensive specialist coach. Id suggest Gary Payton. He was Defensive player of the year and 1st all defense team 9 times. He would help out Denver because of his strong relationship with George Karl. He could work well with the likes of Melo and Lawson aswell as elevate AAA into one of the leagues elite defenders. Payton was the best at defending Jordan AAA could be like that with Kobe etc.

Denvers roster now looks like this

Jefferson, Nene, petro

West, Nene, Anderson

Melo, Graham

AAA, Graham, Billups

Billups, Ty

This trade makes us very strong in the frontcourt but weak at SG so Denver could then either sign a free agent like Reddick or trade Nene for a guard and young player or pick ( Hinrich and Gibson/ Johnson).

With all of this I think Denver could win a title in 1-2 years and be strong contenders for many more to come.. And even with Jeffersons long heavy contract I see him as the type of player who will always have high trade value like Marcus Camby.

But dont do anything until Melo resigns or else this will just put us further back. Also I can only really see this trade happening at the trade deadline as it involves the expiring contracts. the sooner the better would be the case for Denver and Minnesota but New Orleans will probly only be interested at the deadline.

My Ideal Scenario

C- Big Al, Bird/Petro

PF- West,Taj,Bird

SF- Melo,Graham,Draft pick

SG- AAA,Billups/Hinrich

PG- Billups, Ty, Hinrich

Player PPG RPG APG SPG BPG MPG
Melo 28 6.8 4 1.3 0.4 38
West 19 7.9 2.2 1 1.1 32
AL 14 10.5 1.8 0.8 1.5 32
AAA 9 3 2.8 1.1 0.4 27
CB1 13 2.8 7 1.4 0.3 28
________________________________________________________________________
Hinrich 10 2.2 4 1.6 0.3 20
Bird 5.5 5.5 1.5 0.5 2.1 18
Ty 11 1.8 3.5 1.4 0.1 22
Taj 7 6.2 1.5 0.4 0.8 18
Joey 7 2 1.4 0.3 0.2 15
Petro 4 4 1.1 0.2 0.3 9

These players would create

many different position possibilities for different teams the Nuggets play and the nuggets become one of if not the deepest most talented teams in the NBA

Do you guys think this would make us better off or worse. Is there any way it could be made better and which team do you think would say no to the trade???
