Nene may have torn ACL (DP)

The Nuggets sure hope they’re wrong, but a source familiar with the situation said the team is extremely fearful that Nene tore his left ACL in Wednesday’s Game 5. Nene was attended to by team trainers and doctors after his second-quarter fall, and today he will undergo the revealing MRI. The team listed the injury as a left knee sprain.

In the first game of 2005, the big man tore his other ACL on his right knee and missed the other 81 games of that season. In his career, which began in 2002, Nene has also battled testicular cancer, torn a ligament in his left thumb and missed time due to an assortment of other injuries.

In the first four games of this series against Utah, Nene had averaged 13.8 points and 7.0 rebounds.

Game 6 of the series, which Utah leads 3-2, is Friday in Salt Lake City.

Well, if this is true, all I can say is that I hope he gets better soon. I looked at being down 3-1 realistically, but last night gave me some hope, which is now dashed again. Good luck Nuggets. I hope Petro and Allen will be able to fill in and at least make game 6 competitive.
