You and me both, Kenyon. You and me both.

I was at the Mall earlier this evening with my wife and as we were walking we saw two really tall guys walking our way.  I didn't recognize one of them but the other absolutely looked like Kenyon Martin.  I nudged my wife, who is nearly as big a Nuggets fan as I am, and said, "I think that's KMart!"

She glanced over in passing and said "Yes, that IS KMart!"

I didn't really want to disturb him, he was out with his bud doing some shopping just like a regular joe.  I figure that if I was a ridiculously talented basketball player I probably wouldn't want to be bothered by some fan (no matter how good looking, smart, and talented he may be) so I didn't make a big deal out of it.  My wife and I hopped into a store where I was getting a watch fixed.  After I had filled out the claim ticket we were told it would be 15 minutes.

We didn't have anything better to do, and I'm a really huge fan, so we decided to see if we couldn't find Kenyon and at least tell him that he's a stud.  You know, because he doesn't already know that or anything.  We saw him, with undershirts in hand, and I walked up and the conversation went as follows:

NuggBuckets:  "Kenyon?"  (I know, real witty)

KMart:  "Hey, nice to meet you."  He shuffled the shirts to his left hand and held out his right.

NB: "Hey, I don't mean to bother you, just wanted to tell you that my wife and I are big fans."  I shook his hand.

KMart:  "Thanks."

NB: "We think you're playing great and hoping you guys can bring home a championship."

KMart: "You and me both.  You and me both."

I wish I would have thought of something better to say, something that would have made him laugh or something, but again, I was trying my best not to be a pain.  I now wish I had asked my wife to take a photo, or had a piece of paper for him to sign, something to show for it.  I'm not one of those guys who gets starstruck in front of famous people, but meeting KMart was... cool.  I'm 6'3" and there aren't many people that I have to look up to, but Kenyon made me feel tiny.

So thank you KMart, for being cool enough to take the time to shake my hand.
