This isn't just a Nuggets post, but a Denver sports post. The reason I chose to place it here instead of the other Denver SB sites is the Nuggets are currently the only good show playing at the moment and I love the community here.

But does anybody else really feel like this past week has alleviated a lot of current concerns?

First, the immediate situation in Broncos land with McDaniels. Regardless if you were a supporter or someone who wanted him to leave, I think we can all agree this is the first time in months we can all let out a collective breath simply because there's finality to the situation. Even though we'll be looking for a new HC and possibly entire FO in the offseason, for the rest of this season we don't have to be on pins and needles every moment. We don't have to worry that any comment about our HC, positive or negative, may receive some sort of involuntary whiplash from somebody else. We can look forward to the future again, which isn't something I could say as recently as 24 hours ago. That page has turned. For that, I am grateful.

Second, the Rockies signed Tulo to a long-term deal as well as De La Rosa. The Tulo thing might not seem time-sensitive as he was certainly under contract for a few more years, but now we know, with absolute certainty, that he will never be wearing Yankees pinstripes (at least during any years remotely considered his prime). We won't have to worry about Joe Mauer type on-and-off negotiations with numerous potential suitors lining up and trade rumors floating around incessantly (we all know how that feels here). We have our franchise player, the clear face of the franchise, one of the top 10 players in all of baseball for the next decade. JDLR's signing also helps us complete our rotation going into next year so I don't have to worry about us signing retreads and praying we get at least slightly below-average production from one of the spots in our rotation. I feel great about where they're headed and how the team is built. I can now sit back, confident in the team we have and simply enjoy the games. For that, I am grateful.

And finally, the Nuggets. This offseason, preseason, and even very early in this season, everyone of us here were at wit's end. We know who this is about, Melo. Is he staying? Is he going? Where's he going? Who are we getting in return? Who has more leverage, Melo or the Nuggets? What about our young FO? What about Ujiri's past with Bosh? Have the Miami Heat created a new Voltron model for NBA players all wanting to make their own superteams? The questions were endless and none of us had answers. We'll, almost 1/4 of the way through the season, we can breathe a little easier. No, the Melo situation does not have a conclusion yet, but we can take enormous relief in the fact our team is currently 13-6 and winning games we've often lost in the past. Unlike many previous years, Melo is not the only source of light for our team. Even on his off nights, we've found other contributors, some from old faces finding new life: Nene, JR, some from fresh faces we never expected: Forbes, Shelden, and some from our youngsters making the next evolution in their game: AAA and occasionally Lawson. Young Kroenke and Ujiri have shown the sort of patience and discipline that many of us here lacked (myself certainly included) and I can take confidence that whatever happens with Melo, it will be in the best interests of our team. On top of this, the Heat's "superteam" has struggled out of the gate, certainly not on pace to challenge 70 wins or the Bulls single-season record like many were predicting. This has muted many of the urgent cries of "collusion" and "the NBA is going to suck now" or whatever else, which may directly influence Melo's choice this summer. These last few days have been a breath of fresh air in terms of the Nuggets. For that, I am grateful.

I feel like I'm finally in a happy place in relation to Denver sports, something I can't really say since several years ago when the Broncos were contenders under Plummer, the Nuggets were a rising power under Melo, and the Rockies were on their way back up after several years of gloom behind the likes of: Francis, Holliday, Hawpe, Atkins, Cook and a vast reservoir of high impact players in the farm system. I'm content, which is a pretty good place to be as a sports fan, and life in general. For that, I am grateful.
