I hate to say this, but JR Smith needs to be traded

J.R. plays at a position that is the most easy to re-stock (SG), especially when you consider that his primary impact is in his scoring. It was nice to see J.R. run some point, but he doesn't have the natural instincts of a point guard, and he seemed to be looking at this shot while trying to run the point, which is a big no-no, especially when Lawson is on the floor with them. Last night, J.R. had 11 points, but on 4-12 FG and 2-6 3-point FG, but did amass 5 boards and 5 steals. He is listed as only having 2 turnovers, but I swear that I counted at least 3 or 4. He doesn't get it done defensively, and he hasn't shot over .500 from the field in a game for nearly a month. I don't know if it is just me, but I feel like J.R.'s play limits Lawson's effectiveness. As for those who say that J.R. should start, well, J.R. will have the same problems as a starter.

His contract is very tradeable, at just over 6 million, and there are many teams in this league (cough, T-Wolves, cough) that could use an athletic wing scorer.

By the way, I think that the T-Wolves would be a good fit for J.R. In the triangle, you need a wing that can shoot well and score well, and Brewer can't do that. However, I'm not sure what the Timberwolves would give us in return. I doubt that they are giving up Brewer or Flynn. I really like Kevin Love's playing-style with his pounding the boards and good passing, but we'd have to pony up a deal that is a bit better than J.R. for that.

If you think that I hate J.R., then get this: I don't. However, I think we are going to need to trade him to get better. The Lakers don't have an off-the-bench enigmatic scorer, and the Celtics don't either (Eddie House kinda lost it about 2 years ago).

I don't want to trade you either, but the Nuggets kinda have to (via soulhonky.com)
