Reality Check re Nugget Bigs

I am fascinated by the fans who keep asserting that the Nuggets don't need a proven big man because that player could not get enough minutes to make a difference. Here's a reality check:

1 A quick look at our low rebounding numbers---particularly on offense---reminds us that this a fundamental weakness that has already helped cost us games. Its not about the Lakers; its about winning our division!

2 - Cris Andersen is useful and entertaining but is also inconsistent and lacks the bulk and court savvy to keep many opponents out the lane and block out.

3- Anyone who looks at the injury history of our current bigs cannot reasonably claim that we don't need another proven player (not more furniture like Hilton Armstrong) as a buffer against the high probability we will lose one or more of them for several games with more than half the season to be played.

It seems apparent that management is unwilling to trade anyone from our current rotation, which makes it tougher to make a move before the offseason, but those who aspire to even a 50-win season need to recognize we have a big gap to fill ASAP.
