Could Desmond Mason be our next Denver Stiff?

Our friend Chris Tomasson, now working for AOL Fanhouse, is reporting that Desmond Mason was in town earlier this week to meet with Mark Warkentien and George Karl about filling the backup small forward void left in the wake of Linas Kleiza's departure.

Considering the Nuggets cash-strapped position, bringing in Mason on a minimum-type contract isn't a bad idea. He's a great athlete and at 32 years old this fall, still has some life left. The downside on Mason is that he has no outside shot and at 6'5" will be undersized at small forward. But to fill out the Nuggets 13th and final roster spot with a light contract cap-wise, beggars can't be choosers.
