Bring Nick Fazekas home?

There has been no talk of this that I am aware of, but why not bring Nick Fazekas back to Colorado?

Of course the Nuggets would be better off with a big trade for Gasol, Lee, Foster, or another established big man. But, Fazekas would at least be a better contributor than Malik Allen!

He averaged 4.7 ppg and 3.9 rpg in 22 games with the Clippers in 2007-8 in 11.8 minutes per game, with 57.1% shooting. That translate into almost 8 points and 6.6 rebounds every 20 minutes, which would be perfect for Denver if they can't acquire a starting-caliber center. It would help Martin to reduce his minutes to avoid injuries, and also to relieve Nene a bit. I don't know if he can play good defense, but he is 6'11" and long. Also, he can shoot from the outside, which none of our other big men can do. In 4 games in the Orlando Summer League, he averaged 15.25 ppg and 7 rebounds in 23 mins per game. So, that's not great, but it might be what we need. He spent last year in Europe, and is only 24 years old.

So he may not be that "key big man" we need, but he would be very cheap for a one-year deal, probably not much over $1mil, and I think he would be a big help to our other post men. And who knows, maybe he would turn into a Chris Anderson-like guy and perform better than expected...and if not, a cheap deal that comes off the books at the end of the year is exactly what the Nuggets need.
