Laimbeer is our man

Ok, so I think everyone here knows that George Karl isn't the most popular coach in town, and for a damn good reason too. He reassures our thesis that he is, at this point in time a bad coach, on a nightly basis with illogical lineups, substitutions, timeouts (or lack there of) and often times commentary. What's going on in Karl's head is anybody's guess, but one thing is for sure, this team is in need of a better coach, and we deserve better as fans. The only dilemma of late has seemed to be who we would replace Karl with that has the experience and ability to take this team at least back to the WCFs. Personally, I say anybody could get us where we need to be with the amount of talent we have accumulated over the years, but I know that some people are more reserved about that idea and want a coach who has a proven resume. Well, after a lot of thought I think I have the man for the job...

The man that the Denver Nuggets need to hire asap is Bill Laimbeer. Laimbeer is the polar opposite of Karl in terms of success. He knows how to win when it really matters. Laimbeer was a pivotal part of the great Pistons teams of the late 80's and early 90's and won 2 championships as a player. After winning back-to-backs with the Pistons Bill ended his long, successful career as a player, but went straight back to his winning ways by then coaching the Detroit Shock to 3 WNBA titles in 6 years. Just in case your mathematically challenged, that's a championship winning percentage of 50% during his career as a coach! To add to his impressive record as a coach, Bill was awarded coach of the year in 2003 after leading the Shock to a title only 1 year after taking over as head coach.

Bill is currently on a mission to work his way into a head coaching job in the NBA and I think it would be in our best interest to capitalize on this situation while we still can. It's clear that management and Karl are not close in closing a deal that would extend him as coach (thank God), so doesn't that mean that we should be on the look out for a new one? I sure hope so. And let's all hope that the coach we get next will be a successful one, when it really matters.
