An Honest Perspective from a Jazz Fan

I am a huge Jazz fan, but I am also a huge fan of the NBA in general, so I like to jump around sites and see what people are saying.  I just read Jeremy's post on "Questions that need to be Answered" and started reflecting on the Nuggets a little bit.  So a Jazz fan is probably the last person you want to hear it from, but I thought I would offer my perspective.  I don't personally fear the Nuggets this year, but Jeremy is not just blowing hot air when he says that the Nuggets could be a surprise team in the West.  The Nuggets are one of the most talented teams in the league every season.  But most people don't give them a chance, because they say that the Nuggets haven't bought into a defensive philosophy.  John Hollinger always says it about Denver, but it isn't the defense that is the problem, it is the offense.  The problem is that they don't run an offense.  I watch the nuggets play (I saw about 60 of their games last year) and I just think to myself, "I would go crazy, if I was a Nuggets fan, cause they play with no discipline offensively."  They are basically just saying, we are going to shoot and hope the ball goes in.  I remember a game in particular where they lost a shootout to the Bucks in Milwaukee and the Nuggets were down by one with about 10 seconds left and the Milwaukee announcers said, "now they will isolate Carmelo on the block and hope he gets a good shot."  And sure enough they passed it to Anthony on the block and I think he passed it off to AI for a desperation heave that was no good.  If the Nuggets ran an offense with some semblance of order and most importantly passing, screens and general movement (and they are very capable of it) I think they could be a scary good team.  And the loss of Camby was a big deal, but I think they have some good guys down low still.

One last point.  Your hometown commentators I have to listen to when I watch Denver on league pass are the biggest homers, I have ever heard.  To them, the Nugget players have never committed a foul or turnover.  I don't like our commentators either, but yours are comical.
