As we announced earlier this week, the Denver Stiffs are partnering with HopeKids Colorado to send children who are battling cancer and other life-threatening illnesses to watch the Denver Nuggets live at Pepsi Center. Every day thousands of Denver Nuggets fans visit our page to catch up on the latest Nuggets news and analysis and we want to use our platform to help our community. By partnering with HopeKids, we want to create an event that will be memorable for families in the HopeKids Colorado program while also bringing families together who are fighting similar battles with cancer. These socks are incredibly comfortable, warm, and have this neat little mark on them that remind you which sock goes on the left and which one goes on the right, a mostly useless feature that I nonetheless get a kick out of. Best of all, every time you wear them you can be reminded of how sports, at their best, can be one of the best things about life.

One of the reasons that I love running this site is because of the community that we have built. At times, it feels like a very niche community of mostly die-hard Denver Nuggets fans with casual NBA fans sprinkled in here or there. But since we are in position to speak directly to tens of thousands of Nuggets fans every day, we are allowed the opportunity (and responsibility) to use this platform to do what sports are meant to do; bring people together.

These socks are really cool. But even cooler is the chance to make a difference in our community and in the lives of families who are going through hell. That’s what building a community is all about.

Share your love of the Denver Nuggets with a child in need!

The Denver Stiffs are proud to announce that for the second year in a row, we are teaming up with the Denver Nuggets and HopeKids CO for a charity ticket drive!

From now until the end of the year, Denver Stiffs readers and Denver Nuggets fans can donate tickets to send kids who are battling cancer or other life-threatening illnesses to watch the Denver Nuggets take on the Charlotte Hornets at Pepsi Center on January 5th. The Denver Nuggets are providing special discounted tickets for this event. For just $10, you can send one kid in the HopeKids Colorado program to the game and provide them an opportunity to meet up with other kids who are dealing with similar medical conditions.

This event provides a unique, supportive and recreational environment for connection, sharing and encouragement. Social support is essential for families with children who are battling serious illnesses and HopeKids’ events foster lasting friendships and support among people who share similar challenges. HopeKids families report that nothing is more powerful than one sick child meeting another who has recovered from the same condition. No HopeKids family is alone on this difficult journey.

Last year, Denver Stiffs readers helped send over 350 HopeKids families to watch the Nuggets beat the Sacramento Kings. In addition, we were able to write a check for over $3,400 to help support future events and help families with medical bills. This year, we’re aiming even higher! Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 overall and to send at least 500 kids to the game.

In addition to being a home game, January 5th is also Super Mascot Rocky’s birthday. HopeKids children will get to meet Rocky and other mascots who will be in town for the game, meet Nuggets players and sit courtside during pregame warmups, and attend the game all together in a section reserved specifically for our event.

It’s only $10 per ticket but that $10 donation could very well lead to a child having one of the most important days of their life! Corporate donations also welcome. HopeKids believes that hope is a powerful medicine. Most of us cannot imagine the costs, fears, emotions and isolation that hospital stays and surgeries impose on families. Parents often become overwhelmed with treatment and finances.
